Ski tours in Mittersill at a glance

Ski tourers appreciate the region around Schloss Mittersill for its alpine diversity. Thrilling ski tours in the Kitzbühel Alps lead through unspoilt nature to the summit, accompanied by magical views. We have prepared our four favourite ski tours in the Hohe Tauern National Park, in Mittersill and in the greater Kitzbühel area for you.

This beautiful, short and easy ski tour on the Resterhöhe leads through a lot of forest and offers even beginners a wonderful ski touring experience in any weather.

Starting point: Pass Thurn car park, Resterhöhe lift

Tour: The blue piste no. 76 leads down to the right of the Resterhöhe lift house, the start of the ski tour. Please always keep to the right on the piste so as not to endanger any descending skiers.

Tip: It is particularly charming when the trees are still covered in fresh snow – as if you are trudging through a fairytale forest.

Descent: The descent into the valley is via piste no. 75.

Difficulty: You should allow about one and a half metres for the ascent for this overall easy tour with an altitude difference of approx. 500 metres.

The ski tour to the Toni Alm is particularly suitable for beginners. It runs comfortably through the forest and promises wonderful views.

Starting point: car park at the middle station of the Panoramabahn cable car or the Toni Alm car park

Tour: Follow the forest path after the car park. After a short time, briefly cross the piste and follow the forest path straight ahead again. Briefly pass under the Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen gondola lift. A sharp right-hand bend then awaits. Continue along the path until you reach the piste. There you make a left turn and continue straight ahead along the forest path. After a few metres you reach the Toni Alm.

Tip: Here you can enjoy nature and views over the Kitzbühel Alps to the full.

Descent: The descent into the valley is via red piste no. 77. At the umbrella bar, turn left onto the forest path to the car park.

Difficulty: You should allow about one hour for this generally easy tour with an elevation gain of approx. 400 metres.

Our touring ski tip for the evening: At Pass Thurn, the red piste no. 70 is not groomed until after 7 pm, so you can ski safely until then.

Starting point: Pass Thurn car park, Resterhöhe lift

Tour: From the lift station, you can always follow piste no. 70 to the right. However, stick to this piste as it is only groomed after 7 pm to allow ski tourers to enjoy the piste for longer.

Descent: The descent into the valley is via red piste no. 70.

Difficulty: For this ski tour in Mittersill, which is of medium difficulty overall and covers around 550-650 metres in altitude, you can expect a walking time of around one and a half hours.

Starting point: Pass Thurn car park, Resterhöhe lift

Tour: To avoid having to walk directly along the piste, start to the left of the lift house and follow the tow path to the left of the piste. After a while, cross the piste diagonally to the next pull trail. After three pull paths, you can choose whether to walk along piste no. 70 or cross-country through the terrain for approx. 200 metres in altitude before reaching a fourth pull path. Soon you will see the Mooseralm, where you can fortify yourself for the rest of the ski tour to the Resterhöhe. Alternatively, keep left and head for the Resterhöhe Alm, which is already in sight. Another option is to walk past it and make your way along piste 70a or 70b to the Pinzgablick hut. Here, a separate path to the left of the piste is prepared for ski tourers or walkers.

Tip: The panoramic views on this tour are magnificent! You can also enjoy the sun to the full.

Descent: The descent after the ski tour to the Resterkogel takes place via red piste no. 70. Steeper sections can be avoided by using the pull paths. You can also switch to the much easier blue piste no. 70 in the upper part of the piste.

Difficulty: Depending on your destination, expect an ascent time of one and a half to two hours for this moderately difficult tour of approx. 550-650 metres in altitude.
