The gentle tops of the Kitzbühel grass mountains rise in the north, behind them the imposing summits of the Kitzbühel Alps and, in the south, the Hohe Tauern.

Secret corners
Battlements & fortified tower
The fortified tower and the battlements are part of the west wing of the castle and date back to the 15th century. They were used to guard the castle and you can still see some of the shooting holes in the walls.
Epoch of bygone times
The foyer on the first floor is part of the ‘original’ Schloss Mittersill. It particularly impresses with its furniture from the early 19th century.
Witch’s cellar
Mystical and historical at the same time. Learn more about the "witch mania" that took place in Austria and throughout Europe in the 15th century.
Wine cellar
Unique and special. Numerous high-quality wines from all over the world and fine rarities await your tasting in the historic 15th century wine cellar.
Clark Gabel golf bag
In times gone by, Clark Gabel was a frequently seen guest at Mittersill Castle. His tennis tournaments were legendary and he was also involved in the beginnings of golf in Mittersill.
Glashaus & panoramic terrace
Dine with a view. Situated high above Mittersill on the castle gate is the glass house (also called Salettl or Turmstube). From here, an indescribable 360 °C panoramic view opens up.
Chapel
The castle’s chapel is the oldest chapel building in Mittersill and was built in 1533 after the castle was renovated. The chapel room is in late Gothic style, noticeable in the pointed arch windows made with a fine cement casting, and the Gothic wooden altar.
Castle garden
The castle garden below the castle impresses every visitor as a place of peace and power. Only the beauty of the flowers & plants distracts one from the fascinating view of the surrounding mountains.
Arch cellar
Historic arches, an open fireplace, a large table with a heavy top - all conducive to an inviting atmosphere that produces hearty laughter, good conversations and special moments.

History and stories dating back 900 years surround our luxury castle hotel in Mittersill. It has functioned as a fortress, the seat of counts, princes, and archbishops, and a meeting place for the international jet set. The Sport and Shooting Club founded in the castle was once the most elite society club in the world.
